As Planeterra’s Founding Partner, G Adventures has played a central role in creating opportunities for Community Tourism Enterprises to reach travellers through its tours around the world.
Along the way, our partnership has grown through a series of ambitious initiatives.
50 In 5
In 2015, Planeterra and G Adventures launched 50 in 5, with a goal of developing and integrating 50 new social enterprises into G Adventures tours within five years.
The target was reached in 2019, a year and a half ahead of schedule.
Project 100
Building on that momentum, Planeterra launched Project 100, with the goal of bringing 100 Community Tourism Enterprises into G Adventures tours by the end of 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the project’s completion and shifted priorities toward supporting Community Partners through the disruption and recovery of tourism.
Project 300
Today, that ambition continues through Project 300.
Launched with G Adventures, the initiative aims to uplift more than 300 communities through tourism by 2030, creating more opportunities for communities to connect with travellers and benefit from tourism.
The partnership today
To date, Planeterra has supported more than 150 Community Tourism Enterprises through this ongoing partnership.
But the numbers tell only part of the story.
The partnership has helped create a long-term pathway between community organizations and the tourism market, demonstrating how travel companies can play a role in creating sustained opportunities for communities while giving travellers more meaningful ways to connect with destinations.
