In Maine, Planeterra worked with five towns to explore how small communities can create market-ready tourism experiences using the assets they already have: their histories, cultures, environments, businesses and people.

Through co-creation workshops, asset mapping, experience development and ongoing mentorship, communities developed five distinct experiences in Biddeford, Saco, Westbrook, Gardiner and Rockland.

The project demonstrated that effective Community Tourism development does not begin with a product. It begins with understanding what matters to a place and creating the conditions for communities to shape tourism around those priorities.
